Longer ring finger, probably gay.Īgain, this isn’t scientific just fun. What’s the break down? More older brothers, more androgen. Other research studies have indicated that the more male children a mother has, chances increase that the male child could end up gay. The more older brothers, the more masculine the finger pattern. When it comes to lesbians, researchers found that the lengths of right-hand ring fingers were often longer than index fingers and therefore more masculine, suggesting higher androgen levels.īut when comparing gay men and straight men, there wasn’t much of a difference unless they have older brothers. And when comparing right hands to left hands, finger lengths in the right hand tend to be more sensitive to male hormones than the left. They concluded that a woman’s index finger is generally the same length as her ring finger, while a man’s index finger is often shorter than his ring finger.
In March 2000, the science journal Nature published an article about finger patterns and how they’re affected by androgen (male hormones). Either way, the Gay Finger Test can be fun and full of surprises. It’s considered more of a parlor trick than a scientific study.
